Do you ever find yourself in
a situation or in circumstances where you
feel like your whole world is caving in around you and your head seems
to be in a spin. The mental is working faster than the physical. You
are beside yourself and don't know what to do. You're not sure if you are
turning to the right or to the left. The family is telling you one
thing, your friends something else and suddenly you are not sure of
anything. You are about to pull your hair out and are wringing your
hands in desperation. Well! that's when you need to steal away from the
world and find a private place to have a quiet talk with the Master.
Remember his words in John 14:1 - Let not your heart be troubled; ye
believe in God, believe also in me. Colossians 3:15 - And let the peace
of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one
body; and be ye thankful.
We must recognize the fact that the enemy of our soul works harder with
us mentally than physically. He starts to feed us things that confuse
us and if we are not tuned in firmly to the Word, we will find ourselves
tuning in to what satan has to say. He works on our minds usually
before he attacks our bodies. Remember in the bible he tried the same thing on
Jesus when he was led up by the spirit on the mountain to pray. We are
not alone, everything we are now being confronted with, Jesus has
already been there. The enemy is still trying the same tactics he used on Jesus
to try to defeat you and I. If he can direct our attention away from
the Word of God and turn it onto our problems and circumstances then he has
us on the run. He tempted Jesus in every way known to man, he has been
through every temptation and trial we have or will go through. He is
indeed a present help in our time of need.
We must remember that even Jesus had to find a quiet time and place
where he could be alone to pray. Matthew 14:23 tells us how after Jesus
fed and sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain "apart" to
pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone. The disciples
were in a ship now in the midst of the sea, tossed by waves on every
hand. They were in the middle of a wind storm. Jesus went out to where
they were at, walking on the sea. Jesus knew what they were going to be
faced with in His absence. Peter was so excited when he saw the Lord,
he asked to walk on the water also. Jesus bade him come. Peter was walking
on the water and as long as his eyes of faith were upon Jesus he was
walking just fine, but when he took his eyes off the one who holds our
tomorrow in his hands, he began to be afraid and began to sink.
The bible tells us Jesus will keep us in perfect peace when our mind is
stayed on him and we are putting our trust in him. Hebrews 4: 3,9 -
There remaineth a rest to the people of God.
This story of the sea walker serves as a reminder to us that as we seek
the face of the master, there is nothing the world can do to harm us as
long as we stay anchored in Christ. It is only when we take our eyes
off Jesus and tune into the distractions of this world we begin to waiver
and doubt and fear assails us. We may feel like we are going down for
the last time, but just as Jesus took Peter by the hand and caught him,
he will catch us until the storm passes by.
You may be going through a storm in your life and wondering how you are
going to make it. Let me assure you by the authority of God's Word that
you in your own human frailties cannot make it, but with Jesus working
through you and in you, you can make it, for greater is he that is in
you, than he that is in the world. You can make it by calling on the
one who can calm the troubled waters of the sea and make the lame to walk,
the blind to see, open deaf ears and set the captive free.
We need that quiet time with the Master, so He can be a personal God to
us. Friend, today if you are serving Jesus, He knows your name and is
waiting to hear you say "Lord here amd I" and He will say "Cast Your
Net Upon the Water" and He will fill it to overflowing.
Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.
